The Juno inspired, stick-man story board concept from Sydney's own Pete and Shan. The concept has taken the top spot in our "Your Face Goes Here" engagement shoot competition. First of all we'd like to say how hard it was to choose our finalists because we had so many good entries. If you were an entrant and did not make the finals, we want to say thank you so very much for all the effort you put into your concepts and for telling us a little bit more about your story as a couple. We used to think that alot of creative couples only lived overseas, but we're now convinced that Australia is full of them......they're just shy! So watch this space.......we've already had so much fun running this competition, we may do it again soon!
NOW it's.....business time.
"The idea is based on a shoot at our new first home. The old State School, Circa 1888, High Street Prahran... It's a beautiful old building, and has a beautiful foyer, I would love you to incorporate the Melbourne winter darkness with soft pops of colour, using umbrellas and winter props like scarves and hats. I also love hand type, and typography in general, would love to incorporate that into the shoot, and even perhaps fake snow, and a mini daschund. I want a mini- and Michael doesn't. Everyone who knows us, knows this, it would be funny to have it somewhere in the background, as we will definitely end up with one, one day!
Apart from our building, the area has many rustic and worn down buildings, typical Melbourne homes and local cafes. Our favourite- St Ali in Sth Melbourne http://www.stali.com.au/.
The shoot would be an opportunity for us to do something creative and fun together, and to keep the memory of us pre-wedding, pre-kids etc.
I also want to celebrate our engagement a 2nd time, as I recently lost my ring - but found it a month later in my exfoliating glove!"
"I have some memory of a statistic that 60% of us meet our partners at work. Although we know at least 32% of stats are made up on the spot this one still rings true for Alecia and me. We met at work and our work was filmmaking. Michael Noonan's short film shoots were a rite of passage for a certain vintage of QUT film students- I was the cantankerous soundie, Alecia was the art department, and what a lovely art department she was.
The moment I knew she was more than just a smokin hot set dresser was witnessing her calmly arranging pig entrails around a bathtub...it was a strange place for love to take root but as I saw her wrinkle her nose and bend to the task without a word of complaint, I knew this was one special lady.
So in the spirit of all things filmic I propose our engagement shoot in a cinema! (Hopefully the Regent if it's still standing, failing that Tribal Theatre is lovely). Frolicking through foyers, popcorn for two, dust motes falling through a projectors silver beam, and a couple together on the back row...we'll keep it clean I promise... "
Introducing Couple No 3 - Pete and Shan
"He is Pete. She is Shan. Together we are Pete and Shan.
Shan noticed him across the bar one night at a work function at the Hard Rock Cafe in Sydney. She made her way round to just 'casually' strike up a conversation..... and here is where the story path diverges. According to her, she ensnared him with her witty charm and eyelash-fluttering ways. According to him, he picked her up with his entertaining stories and charming ways.
Ignoring the conjecture surrounding the relationship's beginning, we quite quickly became enamoured with each other. She had just begun a job as a tour guide, travelling all over Oz, and poor little Petey played the part of War Wife and had to sit at home, waiting for his Missus to return from gallivanting. *Insert mushy, romanticy stuff here...* The relationship withstood the tyranny of distance and one winter night in Japan, Pete popped the question. She said yes and they intend to live happily ever after (with Oscar the terrier mutt and Frankie, the craziest cat in the world).
Our Idea -
Using Juno as our inspiration, we want our shoot to be set to a song from the movie. (Movie inspiration seems quite apt given that our first date was to the Drive-In. So very Grease-like.) Our shoot would capture us, in our general goofballiness, acting out the lyrics from this song.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQESZszV0Sg
This shoot will involve props. Many props. Once the shots are developed we want to create a montage set to the song. Ok, so that is just a fancypants way of saying we want to create a slideshow with our shots portraying the lyrics."

Dear Creative Couples & Phantom Readers,

We strive to improve our content however you keep silent. We stormeth the brain here at Feather and Stone as an endeavour to inspire our readers to comment on our blog and liketh our Facebook fan page. Many ideas have come to mind however we feel the best way to go about this is....... Bribery.
We intend to bribe (give away) a free engagement session to any couple that sends us the most creative concept for an engagement shoot. Feather and Stone will pick the top three concepts and blog them for all to see. Then it's upto the readers to vote for their favourite. You must vote by becoming a fan of our Facebook Page and leaving a comment on our official blog with your name and the couple you wish to vote for.
The winning couple will get to spend 2+ hours shooting time with Feather and Stone, and will receive 30 fully edited High Resolution photos on DVD (for you to share and print to your heart's content) and an online slideshow. This prize is worth $550, so don't miss out!!
How to apply.
First, become a fan of our Facebook Page. Second please send an email to info@featherandstone.com.au with a snapshot, some information about yourselves and a description of your concept. Descriptions should be no more than 250 words, however feel free to accompany this with photos, storyboards etc. We are looking for concepts that involve creative themes and locations personalised to you as a couple, something that represents who YOU are.

Engagement photography must be held in Australia. If the Photography Session is held beyond 100km from the Brisbane CBD then travel charges may apply. Photography sessions cannot conflict with any pre-existing bookings that Feather and Stone have arranged and may only be held on Wednesdays, Fridays or Sundays. Entries will be accepted from Friday 11th June 2010 to Friday 9th July 2010, voting is open from 10th - 24th July 2010 and the winning couple will be announced on our blog on Sunday 25th July 2010. You'd think we'd stepped into a french movie scene from the 1950's, a little cafe hidden in the romantic Loire Valley, nestled amongst rolling green hills dotted with hundreds of Châteaux, and the most glamorous couple to date. Meet Rebecca and Michael and their gorgeous kiddly-winks. We spent the first half of our shoot in the Brisbane Botanical Gardens with the entire family and ended the afternoon a world away at the most charming Cafe Bouquiniste in New Farm. We want to say a big thank you to Meredith from Cafe Bouquiniste for sharing a touch of France with us and to Rebecca and Michael for putting so much effort into their outfits, it made all the difference.
